Shelby Houghton originally was claiming he was in the military and that he was a sniper stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan. He was 18 years old. Never completed high school or got his GED when he entered job corps. It is a requirement to have either of the two. He went on medical leave in Columbia Basin Job Corps.
He made all kinds of claims about being in the military. He claimed he went to Iraq and was stationed with the rangers and that he became a war hero by shooting down an enemy drone.
This all transpired between May of 2011 throughout February of 2012 as he was grilled by the student body at that time. He was kicked out for wanting to light the welding shop on fire and wanting to use a welding torch in a threatening manner to the safety of the students.
He was questioned extensively about his M.O.S. was and never knew the acronym. Never had an ID card on him to identify him by what he said he was.
Never had a unit number. Never was in the database for anyone who signed up in the army or the military or the navy. Never could identify where the american flag patch was.
Never knew how long basic training is for all new entrants in the military. Kid always got into fights and didn't respect authority when he was in job corps.

He had a child when he was 20 years old. He pays child care payments. Here is how Shelby portrays himself on the internet. What a GREAT role model.

Shelby smashed his cell phone back in Columbia Basin Job Corps after getting into an argument with several people in his bay room in the 1908 dorm in the month of May 2011.
Shelby was cleaning the bathroom for 3 hours and getting into verbal fights with Mikey Bower and Trevor Malley in May of 2011.
Shelby would fall asleep in class and not be on task despite his claims of being in the military.
Shelby assaulted a young lady by the name of Ciara Taylor with the intent of causing physical injury.
Shelby believes himself to be superman despite him making terroristic threats to blow up a hospital. He has threatened to shove things up "peoples asses" according to one eye witness.
