The State of Louisiana, in its infinite wisdom, has chosen to close Hodges Gardens State Park and return the property to private control. We hope the private owners will find a way to re-open the park, but we have no reason to expect they will. At one time, Hodges Gardens was the largest privately owned botanical gardens in the US. Now, it appears, Louisiana is prepared to abandon it to history. As of this time, we have been unable to find another suitable location for our event. Julian Starfest, an astronomy exhibition and public starparty, is up and rolling to another great event at the Menghini Winery in Julian, CA. Julian, at 4,200', offers some of the darkest skies in Southern California and the Menghini Winery offers a beautiful venue. Starfest, now a joint effort between the San Diego Astronomy Association and the town of Julian, will only get bigger and better as the years pass.
