Book Information
"THE SORCERER'S RING has all the ingredients for an instant success: plots, counterplots, mystery, valiant knights, and blossoming relationships replete with broken hearts, deception and betrayal. It will keep you entertained for hours, and will satisfy all ages. Recommended for the permanent library of all fantasy readers."

-Books and Movie Reviews, Roberto Mattos (regarding A Quest of Heroes)

THE GIFT OF BATTLE (Book #17) is the finale of the Bestselling series THE SORCERER'S RING, which begins with A QUEST OF HEROES (book #1)!

In THE GIFT OF BATTLE, Thor meets his greatest and final challenge, as he quests deeper into the Land of Blood to attempt to rescue Guwayne. Encountering foes more powerful than he ever imagined, Thor soon realizes he is up against an army of darkness, one for which his powers are no match. When he learns a sacred object may give him the powers he needs-an object which has been kept secret for ages-he must embark on a final quest to retrieve it before it is too late, with the fate of the Ring hanging in the balance.

Gwendolyn keeps her vow to the King of the Ridge, entering the tower and confronting the cult leader to learn what secret he is hiding. The revelation sends her to Argon, and ultimately to Argon's master-where she learns the greatest secret of all, one which may alter the destiny of her people. When the Ridge is discovered by the Empire, the invasion begins and, under attack by the greatest army known to man, it falls on Gwendolyn to defend, and to lead her people on one final, mass exodus.

Thor's Legion brothers, on their own, face unimaginable risks, as Angel is dying from her leprosy. Darius fights for his life beside his father in the Empire capital, until a surprise twist prods him, with nothing left to lose, to finally tap his own powers. Erec and Alistair reach Volusia, battling their way upriver, and they continue on their quest for Gwendolyn and the exiles, as they face unexpected battles. And Godfrey realizes that he must ultimately make a decision to be the man he wants to be.

Volusia, surrounded by all the power of the Knights of the Seven, must put herself to the test as goddess and discover if she alone has the power to crush men and rule the Empire. While Argon, faced with his end of days, realizes the time has come to sacrifice himself.

As good and evil hang in the balance, one final, epic battle-the greatest battle of all-will determine the outcome of the Ring for all time.

With its sophisticated world-building and characterization, THE GIFT OF BATTLE is an epic tale of friends and lovers, of rivals and suitors, of knights and dragons, of intrigues and political machinations, of coming of age, of broken hearts, of deception, ambition and betrayal. It is a tale of honor and courage, of fate and destiny, of sorcery. It is a fantasy that brings us into a world we will never forget, and which will appeal to all ages and genders. THE GIFT OF BATTLE is the longest of all the books in the series, at 93,000 words!

"Action-packed .... Rice's writing is solid and the premise intriguing."

Title: Author on an LSD trip!! Hated it. Huge disappointment.
Date: Reviewed in the United States on January 16, 2020
Review: Thank goodness it's over for a terrible, self-centered, unimaginable and greedy writer. Tired old series, worn out, repetitive by-lines where everyone miraculously survives every time by stabbing the enemy "in the gut" or in the heart. Extended and extended story lines that could have and should have ended after the fifth book if not a lot earlier. Feats of combat so far above the highest fantasy levels, always with coincidental ways to be saved. The author is dragging this out intentionally for money from the publisher. Time table is off, Guwayne rescued after 17 volumes of simultaneous action; and only one year old after the passing of twelve moons at the end. She even missed her own tie-ins to what she wrote. Editing was horrible, missing words throughout. At times, it appeared like Eubonics.

Title: adult (let's just say well over 50) and I loved this teen novel series
Date: Reviewed in the United States on February 17, 2016
Review: I have to admit that I'm an adult (let's just say well over 50) and I loved this teen novel series. They are all short and very easy to read but I found them to be very entertaining. Yes, it got a bit predictable but still had to follow it to the end.

A lot of people had mentioned the poor grammar and all the books are in bad need of a good editor. For example, there's a part where a character acts threatening towards a guard and the line says "...the guard quickly backed away slowly"! How do you do something quickly and slowly at the same time? :-) I'm sure she meant he "immediately" backed away slowly. That line is just burned into my brain and I read that line over and over. But I liked them all. The books are cheap and I'll probably look at some others Morgan Rice has written.

Title: Best story, worst editing
Date: Reviewed in the United States on September 9, 2015
Review: The Sorcerer's Ring is one of the best story's I've read. It would be 5 stars if not for the editing. The story keeps the reader captivated and wanting more. However, the constant missing or misused words are a huge annoyance. This and the inconsistencies in the facts and statements made have and adverse affect on the quality of the books. For example, the King is buried in the ground on a hill, then later he was buried in a tomb in a valley and at the end of the book he's back on the hill... There are so many of these inconsistencies that it's distracting. Several times I put the books down due to quality and resolved to quit reading them, only to pick them up again because of the story. While I don't feel I wasted my time reading the series, my experience was so adversely affected that I will not be able to recommend these books for others to read.

Title: long but decent series
Date: Reviewed in the United States on August 14, 2017
Review: Everything comes together in the end a little too easily. Every battle is described as their greatest yet, and almost every time someone is about to die all of a sudden a miracle happens and they're saved or gain more power than they ever had. One person fights off dozens with barely a scratch which happens too often. And the repetitivness of phrases like clash of metal, storm of swords, and crash of shields (titles of the books basically) is over used, not to mention just poor editing with so many misspelled words and phrases not making sense. Felt rushed and thrown together but overall not a bad series if you can look past certain faults.

Date: Reviewed in the United States on December 7, 2014
Review: Morgan Rice finally concluded the Sorcerer's Ring series in this tale.

I have mixed feeling about the conclusion. On one hand I'm thrilled she finally killed it because the last several books felt like the same thing regurgitated over and over again (like beating a dead horse).

That said, I appreciated her review of all that she brought us and her characters through in the series. Her brief mentions had me recall momenteous events in the characters lives. This made me realize how much growth each of the characters experienced since the beginning, several years ago.

My only objection to how she concluded the series was many of the events conveniently fell in place too conveniently. ***SPOILER*** I'm glad she reunited everyone at the end, but life just doesn't happen that cleanly, especially when the rest of the series was about exactly the opposite. ***END SPOILER***

Overall, I give this 4 stars out of 5

Title: A Good Read

Review: The entire series is an adventure in Love and Loss, Kings and Duty, Wizards and Sorcerer's, both good and Very Bad ones, Magic, Dragons and Goblins, Evil Taskmasters and the Knights who defeat them, Magic, Magic, and Love..(yes I know I said those already, but they are so important). Reading this book, tho it be the last of this series, leaves you wanting to know more, more about their children.
And at that, all we can do is request of our author, Mr. Morgan Rice, to hurry his other writings, and get on with telling us about Guwayne, in "The Sorcerer's Son"..PLEASE1

Title: was a good book as was all the rest in the series
Date: Reviewed in the United States on July 14, 2015
Review: The Gift of Battle, was a good book as was all the rest in the series, I think the author went a little to long with the story though. I found that the author kept repeating the plot a lot, a little tweak here or a tweak there about it. But never less the same plot.
Don’t take this wrong, it was a very good love story with adventure thrown in. The adventure is what got me hooked on reading all the books in the first place. So, my rating for the complete series of 17 books; I give it a 4 stars rating for keeping enough interest in it that I read all 17 books in a row.
