You would actually be an unusual person if you sniffed your soft new puppy considered ways to remember your pet once it has moved on. The thought of death rarely crosses a person's mind in such a twisting moment of full life. We usually live as if our pets have immortality, but our hearts know that they may well move on before we do.

I remember so well the day our adult daughter's dog, Daisy, moved on. The two had accompanied each other constantly for twelve years. Our daughter provided warm, handmade clothing for her 40 pound Daisy. She socialized Daisy and trained her in the beautiful things of everyday life. She cared for Daisy through many illnesses, including the cancer that her pet finally succumbed to. As the end approached, she arranged for a local vet for immediate pickup and final help through the final hours of her pet's life. No one suspected, however, that Daisy's death would happen in the wee hours of the morning. Daisy continued with nothing but the tender comforts and abundant tears from her lifelong human companion.

Our daughter sank into the depths of grief. Tomorrow she contacted the vet. Daisy's body traveled to the vet for cremation, and our daughter kept only her memories. She quickly realized that she wanted a concrete, visible way to remember her pet. We wanted to give her some kind of memorial gift and started looking for ways to remember her pet.

Ways to remember your pet after it is passed

The number of ideas amazed us. Some people suggested burying the pet's cremated ashes in a cemetery and erecting an outdoor memorial. Some thought that a memorial service was a great way to remember your pet. Others mentioned self-involvement as sharing the love you felt for your pet with other animals, volunteering at an animal shelter, or helping the elderly with their pets. There seemed to be many ways to remember your pet after it moved on, but none of them fulfilled what we wanted - a "memorial" as constant as Daisy had been.

Some ideas were right for a goldfish. Some were suitable for either cat or dog. There were even ways to remember your pet pony or horse after it has moved on. I imagine that if you looked long enough, you could even find ways to remember a deceased elephant.

Let me give you five other ideas we found.

- Create a memory garden if you own your own property. Make it as simple or detailed as you want. Choose a quiet place away from foot traffic, and plant a few flowers. Add an attractive flat stone on which you have painted your pet's name. You can also add a stone or metal statue of your pet's breed. When you maintain the garden, you will remember your beloved pet.

- Make a custom photo frame of your pet with its name and fill it with a favorite photo of the cat, dog, etc. If you would rather let someone else do the work, try searching the Internet for custom memory photo frames. , or find a generic frame you love and insert a picture of one of the happiest days with your pet.

- Place a box with the ashes on your pet on a shelf, but make it a special box. (I knew a woman who stacked five ordinary boxes on a shelf (two dogs and three cats)! You can order a beautiful, laser engraved wooden urn with a photo of your pet, its name and dates etched at the top. Maybe even remember your pet with a special poem etched on the front of the box for more information click here https://www.themebounce.com/covid-19-%e0%b8%95%e0%b9%88%e0%b8%ad%e0%b8%aa%e0%b8%b1%e0%b8%95%e0%b8%a7%e0%b9%8c%e0%b9%80%e0%b8%a5%e0%b8%b5%e0%b9%89%e0%b8%a2%e0%b8%87/
