With Zack Snyder’s Justice League about to release, speculation has risen over a potential sequel, but according to Deborah Snyder, that conversation can wait. For years, fans have clamored for the original version of DC’s superhero crossover extravaganza to be released to the public under Zack Snyder’s initial vision, and that wish is finally being granted. Zack Snyder’s Justice League will release on HBO Max on March 18.
A proper sequel is an entirely different question. When the DCEU was first conceived to compete with Marvel’s dominance at the box office, Warner Bros. brought Zack Snyder in as the creative lead. Snyder’s mission was a five-film arc centering Superman, of which Justice League would have been the third entry after Man of Steel and Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. After all three films delivered decidedly mixed commercial and critical performances – and after Snyder’s departure from Justice League following the death of his daughter – the rest of the original multi-film plan was scrapped.
