Many people feel that to get the best deal on car parts that they have to go second hand. However this is just not true, if you look in the right places you can often get new auto parts at prices that are the same as those second hand ones. Online stores are a great place for cheap car parts, one reason for this may be because they don't have expenses from advertising and bricks and mortar stores. Also if you check around the online stores you can often find the part you are looking for on special at a really discounted price.
I can tell you my experience, I use Silicon Grease, and available at most auto parts places as it is designed for this purpose. It is clear grease in a tube, with a consistency similar to that of Vaseline, but without any petroleum content, so it will not attack the rubber or any plastic you put it on - it is totally inert in that respect.

Usually people think that their car would function better if it had completely new parts. However, this isn't the case as used parts are good themselves. Of course, if you could afford new parts - go ahead as there's no problem with them either.
With older cars, fixing them up can be a little challenging. With newer cars, there are plenty of option you have to dress up the interior and exterior of the car. You can improve the performance or at least make it look like its fast as lightening. With older cars, things are a bit different.
Some types of recycling leave a lot to be desired, too, like old batteries. Batteries really do have a shelf life, and after that, they're useless. They don't charge properly and they act up. They're also likely to conk out on you on a routine basis. You can jury rig jumper leads, do whatever, but the batteries can be real duds. Other electricals aren't even that good. Strictly speaking, the best approach to electrical repair is to stick in new components, not fiddle about with something that already wasn't working properly.
foreign auto parts are often recycled, and that's not a problem provided the parts are the right parts for their new jobs. Sometimes they're not. used car parts near me vary slightly between models, and that can cause problems. The condition of the recycled parts is another issue. Recycled parts can vary from mint condition to absolutely atrocious.
You may have some car parts lying around, for instance, spare tires. Each car usually comes equipped with a spare tire. If you are smart, you would leave it in your car, in case one day you get a flat tire and need to change it on the side of the road. But, you could have taken out that spare tire when you purchased the car and it is in your very own home. It is good to hold onto that spare tire because you never know when you will need to use it.
