Artist Shane Grammer presents with his child, Elliana, in front of his mural of Martin Luther King, Jr. in Venice Beach. Courtesy of Shane Grammer"When Kobe passed away with his daughter, I was broken over it," states Grammer, a 48-year-old from Chico, California. "I have 3 women and I take my women on projects with me all the time and we paint together."In June, Grammer went back to the wall in Los Angeles where he 'd painted a side view of Bryant to include a mural of another dad who died, George Floyd.

At the last minute, he decided to give the portrait a golden radiance."I simply felt, due to the fact that of the method our country is feeling and responding to what occurred to him, it's practically like he is sanctified, if that makes good sense," he says. "My mural was showcased in George Floyd's funeral video in Houston and I had no idea.

I n the wake of George Floyd's death, individuals have remained in a state of unrest. On May 25, Floyd was murdered by law enforcement officer. What followed was a flare of assistance for the Black Lives Matter motion, which began back in July 2013 after Trayvon Martin's killer was acquitted, and has continued for many years, demanding justice for Black lives by condemning authorities brutality.

Activists who support the motion, no matter the race, are finding opportunities to make a statement. One method activists have been showing their assistance is through artwork. In cities like Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati, activists are advancing the Black Lives Matter movement alongside protests.
The mural is the only Black Lives Matter street mural in the greater Cleveland location and was put together by two not-for-profit companies: Random Acts of Generosity All Over and Graffiti Heart Gallery. Stamy Paul, president and creator of Graffiti Heart, connected to city authorities to organize a similar street mural to the one in Washington, D.C.. There were a number of obstructions, so they checked out developing a rooftop mural or even a parking lot mural.
