Microsoft announced that it has partnered with the renowned game maker Hideo Kojima. Kojima is the director of hit games such as Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding for the Xbox video game console. Kojima announced the partnership in an audio message but didn't give any additional details on the game's features, what it'll be called or when it will be released.

Kojima declared that it could take some time, through an interpreter during the announcement. The popular developer and leader of Kojima Productions is known for focusing on quality with his games, which often take years to complete. Kojima suggested that Microsoft's cloud gaming technology would be a key element of the title, adding that it's a game that he's "always wanted to make."

Microsoft's announcement was part of its annual summer announcement event, which featured reveals of the new action game Minecraft Legends and the space adventure title Starfield, both coming next year. The company also made use of the event to announce details about upcoming titles such as Overwatch 2, Activision Blizzard’s online battle game, and Diablo 4, its next big dungeon-based horror game.

Kojima's team is also working on a sequel for the cult PlayStation title, Death Stranding.
