Microsoft has introduced the education version of Minecraft, its blocky game Minecraft to Chromebooks at the right time to allow students to return to school.
The Minecraft Education Edition for Chromebook will be available on Monday. It has the same features of the Windows and iPad versions, including multiplayer across platforms according to the company. The educational version of the game is intended to assist educators in teaching everything from science, technologyengineering, and math (STEM) to art, language, and history. The game has been approved by teachers from more than 115 countries according to Microsoft.
Microsoft announced that the game is now available on Chromebooks and that the latest update features new STEM lessons as well as a "special Minecraft world" created by the American Beekeeping Federation's Kids and Bees Program.
Minecraft: Education Edition for Chromebook requires an Microsoft Account to Log in. The game is licensed by schools through Microsoft 365 for Education. However, Jasonotto.net stated that it is working on allowing users to log in using the use of a Google account.
