We were hoping that it would be a bit more distant, but no - Mojang has announced that you can play Minecraft 1.19 right now. If you are interested in playing an experimental beta version that is available, it's possible. The first experimental snapshot for 1.19 is available for Minecraft: Java Edition Players and lets you delve into the Deep Dark and meet the Warden.
You can get details on how to install the snapshot over the official site however, keep in mind that you won't have the ability to play through old worlds. You'll need to make another one, and it's unlikely that you'll be able to take any worlds played on the snapshot to the next level into future versions of the game.
This snapshot doesn't include every feature planned for 1.19 which is also called the Wild update, but it does include the Deep Dark biome, the Ancient City biome, the Warden mob, sculk blocks and the swift sneak enchantment, and the dark mob effect.
When you begin to play with the new features, be aware that this is an 'experimental' snapshot. Cit.si means that the devs are still testing the way these systems work, so any particular feature could be subject to significant changes in the future.
