Title: Good solid book at teaching the very basics of C++

Review: This book takes you through the baby steps of each step of C++ programming, so I rate it highly because that is how I learn. The book does a reasonable job of teaching the object oriented aspects, but the last 4 chapters on that subject are a degree harder than the others. But that might be because object oriented programming is hard to begin with. I am still trying to learn that object oriented material better. I think this book does a nice job explaining calling by reference, by value, and using pointers.

Review: Not knowing the first thing about C++, which my recent purchase of an Arduino starter kit requires, I was hoping for a text that would introduce me to the basics. By the second chapter, I was so confused, I started over with chapter one. I am still confused!
I am not a computer ‘dummy’ by any means. I assisted our ‘IT’ people in our department and was the ‘go to guy’ in our division, but programming, I have absolutely no idea what that is about and was excited to learn something new. That will not happen with this text reference!

Review: I would recommend this book as a basic introduction to C++ which is what the title promises, and delivers. Great price, good overview and a solid introduction to concepts, syntax, and coding. The book provides examples for each concept. That said, it was obvious there was little to no editing of the book because every few pages there is a grammar or spelling error on the part of the author; perhaps it is a self published book, that is my guess; regardless, I still recommend this book based on the price and solid pedagogy.
