Massage therapy is the practice of soft tissue manipulation for the purpose of restoring health or alleviating pain. This treatment is also known as "Mesotherapy" and is built on the same principles of chiropractic medicine. When a patient receives this type of treatment, he/she lies down on a table beneath a massage table or chair. Although the patient doesn't need to lie down, many clients prefer to be placed on their backs, which makes it easier to access all the parts of their bodies.
This type of therapy uses pressure to relieve discomfort, relax the body, and/or promote healing. Massage therapy can be classified into two categories: massage chairs and full-body massage. Massage chairs are mobility equipment that mimic manual therapy while full-body massage requires the client to lie on a table with eyes closed, and/or spend in a hot space. In massage chairs, massage techniques are preprogrammed to create a variety of different effects, ranging from the simple relief of sore muscles to full body massage.
One of the most common benefits of massage therapy is the stimulation of tissue repair and increased tension in muscles. A full-body massage will involve the application of steady pressure to multiple areas of the body by the massage therapist. The massage therapist will start with the feet and work up. The back muscles will be massaged as well as the major muscle groups such as the shoulders, neck elbows, feet buttocks and back. The massage therapist can also apply resistance movements or stretching to specific muscles or parts of your body.
To help the practitioner deliver effective and gentle stretching, it is important to be aware of what the practitioner is doing. For example, in watsu, when the massage therapist makes a thrusting motion to move from toe to foot the practitioner must make certain that his or her hands are firm and that they do not leave marks on the surface of the toes. By performing the proper stretching on the body of the client, the practitioner can increase flexibility and reduce soreness.
In the traditional Japanese massage practitioner, they also employ techniques to improve circulation, such as placing the hand or forefinger in the palm of their hand for about a minute. Through deep, slow breathing, the practitioner then stimulates specific points on the palm to remove the finger. This is called tsukubai. Practitioners also sometimes perform the kokyu-nage or tapping technique, which is designed to improve circulation and eliminate blood clots that have accumulated.
The goal of this kind of massage is to restore mobility to the joints of the spine and to help strengthen the soft tissues surrounding the spine. Similar to traditional watsu, the application of light pressure in the direction of joint range of motion is essential to reduce stiffness and facilitate healing. To maximize the effect the massage therapist should not just apply pressure but also stretch the muscles to influence the change in cartilage and joints. This technique can be used to stretch the muscles, like the lordosis (lifting one leg up in the air) and the kegels (or pelvic tilts). Prevention of injury is possible through properly stretching the muscles and soft tissue.
This kind of massage is also known by the term "hot and cold" since it incorporates both types of stretching. Both are usually done with cold compression, while the other type uses warm compresses. If you're experiencing issues with swelling and inflammation after an injury, think about applying hot compresses for as long as two to five minutes. There are many kinds of cool and warm compressions. Numbness may indicate that the therapist has applied too excessive heat. 대구출장안마 If the massage is too hot, you may be irritated or feel pain.
Watsu massage improves flexibility, balance and strength. Many of these benefits have been lost as the methods were changed from traditional to modern. One benefit that is still available is the reduction in tension in muscles. This massage can also be used to increase flexibility if you are feeling restricted. Some early 1980s practitioners believe that watsu was not as beneficial in the beginning days as it is today.
