Overview
Up in the attic, it is scuttling and waiting. Day turns to night, and I hear its scratchy pacing. An old attic is a spooky, dark, and magical place for young and overactive imaginations to explore. In this thrills-and-chills adventure into one boy's curious mind, author B.H. Belfry and illustrator Gail Marie Kern take readers on a monstrous mission of discovery to find the source of all those scary noises coming from the attic. It must be a monster, or some THING nobody has ever seen. And what do you do when you are 100% sure you have a monster or creepy THING living in your attic? You hatch a plan to catch and tame it of course! With his little sister in tow, and armed with Dad's trusty fishing net, this seven-year-old sleuth is off on a journey of ghoulish surprises, all leading to the creaky, dusty boards in the attic of his family's Victorian house. But can these daring siblings solve this morbid mystery... and still make it back downstairs by bedtime? B.H. Belfry was raised by ghosts, spindly spiders, and mutant dust mites in the haunted attic of an abandoned farmhouse found on the lonesome prairies of rural North Dakota. On cold autumn nights, he donned dusty clothes and quilts, taken from tattered cardboard boxes, and was lulled to sleep by the bedtime stories of a friendly family of spiders called The Crawleys. An affection for lofty places, he now lives in Orlando, Florida, in a home that contains no attic, but does have a musty, humid crawl space for hiding things.
