Most adults walk at speeds of 3 to 4 miles per hour, which means that a mile can be walked in around 15 to 20 minutes. There are many people who are more or less fast than this. Your speed for walking could be affected by age and gender, your fitness level and gender.
Is it possible to calculate your speed at which you walk?
If you're contemplating a trip, day out or training for a marathon or sponsored walk, you should be able to calculate how long it will take you to walk one mile. The health of your individual will certainly be a factor in how long it takes to walk a mile however more general factors like age, gender and speed can be taken into account in your plans.
The speed of walking varies based on age
We don't mean the amazing nature of being able to walk two blocks with a toddler in just three hours (so many cracks in walls to see!)
Were you surprised to find out that active twenty-somethings walk with a slower pace contrasted with their older peers who are thirtysomethings and forty-somethings? This is true. Once we reach our fifties, the speed of walking decreases again.
