First Monday Trade Days may be an event that is well-known in East Texas, but that doesn't stop hundreds of thousands of people from coming to this city Canton to enjoy four days of the month. The event is open from Thursday through Sunday, before the First Monday of each month, hundreds of vendors have set up shop at the event to provide shoppers with a multitude of options.

The first First Monday Park was established more than a century ago as the first flea market is now home to some of the most innovative, cutting-edge home furnishings, antiques and collectibles to be found anywhere. In the last 150 years, a lot of things have changed in First Monday Park. Original First Monday Park; however, the authentic, down-to-earth people-to-people relationships between vendors as well as customers is the reason why people keep returning.

According to the First Monday Trade Days website it is one of the oldest and largest continuous outdoor flea fair throughout the United States.

According to the people in selling on markets, idea for First Monday Trade Days started in the 1850's as the circuit judge would take a journey from Canton on the 1st Monday of every month. All over the county came to the city for court proceedings. In the past, residents brought their own possessions, whether it was livestock, food items, or any other unique pieces to trade or sell. Then in 1965 First Monday outgrew the town's Town Square so it was moved to the present day area. And the rest is history...

First Monday Trade Days is comprised of a wide range of private sellers . Therefore, the chances are that, regardless of how many times you'll never see all. The flea market is situated over hundreds of acres, offering over 700,00 square feet worth of shopping.
