FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Threat of Attack by Alt-Right Extremists
Details emerge about upcoming “Summer of Rage”

During the week of May 29th, 2017, eight people claiming to speak for right-wing groups including the III%ers, Oathkeepers, and League of the South met in person after meeting on the online forum 4chan and moving their plans to the forum 8chan.

An activist group was able to infiltrate this meeting at which the eight individuals discussed planned terrorist attacks by the white supremacist's groups they are involved with, to occur during the upcoming summer months, by setting off explosive devices in multiple cities in a three-tiered operation code-named "The Antifa Summer of Rage." They have specifically discussed IED attacks, car bombs, pipe bombs, and mailbox explosives. Separating the targets into tiers, denoting the order and escalation of these potential attacks, they listed the cities in “Tier One” as Austin, Portland, and San Bernardino, with emphasis placed on San Bernardino. “Tier Two” is comprised of Houston, Seattle, and Berkeley. These lead up to “Tier Three,” which is alleged to be the largest attack, located in Sacramento. Noticeably, most of these cities are the location of recent high-profile clashes between white supremacists and anti-racist organizations. The expressed goal was to cast blame for these attacks on groups like Black Lives Matter, By Any Means Necessary, and other anti-fascist and anti-white supremacist organizations, in order to incite a popular backlash against them. These attacks were said to begin the weekend of June 10th, 2017, when anti-Muslim rallies are being held across the US.

We cannot completely confirm the veracity of these claims, but we can confirm this conversation occurred and that these groups are discussing these possibilities. The rise of white supremacist violence, as evidenced by the Portland stabbings, and many other recent acts of violence legitimizes the terrifying possibility of a widespread attack. Fascist groups have also been promoting false demonstrations on popular social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter in some cities, while in actuality organizing their plans for violence in the locations on their tiered list.

It is worth warning the general public, organizations, counter protestors, and--more widely--general vulnerable groups such as immigrants, people of color, and Jewish people of the rising threat of the political violence of white supremacists. As domestic terror attacks committed in the name of white-supremacy rise, we cannot take these types of allegations lightly.
