DESCRIPTION

This song is about a neutral good dwarf inventor named Yoltz. I'm not so good at creating characters, so instead I decided to just tell Yoltz's life story with the song, representing his actions instead of his traits. I imagined Yoltz's story unfolding as the song progresses. He has his own motif so that the song still functions as a character theme.

STORY

Many years ago now, Yoltz stumbled upon and settled into a small village which was struggling financially. He became close with the residents by creating things that helped them pursue their dreams, whether they be regular things or clever contraptions. [I showed this dynamic with Yoltz's motif doing call and response with others, who have their own motifs/instruments.]

After some time the village got attacked, Yoltz created weaponry to defend from siege and became renowned as the town hero. [EEEEEEEVIL tone shift, dramatic Yoltz motif variations, gradually morphs into heroic reprise of verse]

However, over time the townsfolk that he had grown to love moved out of the village one by one to follow their passions and connect with others that shared them. Eventually the village became a husk of it's former self - lifeless and unpopulated. Yoltz was left without a purpose, so he ultimately decided to say goodbye to the village he had grew to love. [triumphant version of motif, slowly fading into minimal, lonely instrumentation, callbacks to villager motifs]
