Review: I loved this book. I am a Ruby fan. I own almost all of her books even though I can read most through Unlimited. But Ruby's comments touched me. I am a BBBW (Bold Beautiful Black Woman) and seeing this featured in a story and the acknowledgement by her reminds me why she is at the top of her game and a world class writer. Keep writing your stories (adventures) and I will continue to wait for your next project.

I've had to deal with a disaster of a mishap with my Kindle-for-Mac when Version 3 on my second laptop crashed terribly, and I had to wait until that computer became obsolete and the Apple Care ran out (this IS an old laptop) and the screen's crystal cracked. (Augh!) So when I finally got things up and running after having had no access to over two thousand titles, I discovered that I had this little gem, waiting for me to read. It was like discovering a long-long Star Trek Classic episode that had never been viewed. Sure, I'm a Ruby Dixon fan, and I've been inundating myself with many of her Risdaverse stories as I had found myself in the doldrums of other novels that I had been trudging through. I SO needed this rest-and-recreation!
This has been the anticipated Big Black Curvy Woman novella readers had been anticipating. I'm still wondering on the mechanics of a black heroine in modern romance writing. How should black women be best represented in your average PNR? (The same thing can be said about your average post-modern romance novel.) There's a really cool website called writingwithcolor dot tumblr dot com that discusses this very same issue ad nauseam which I found absolutely fascinating! Because, unfortunately, other than direct mention of skin color and hair characteristics, Lucy sounds like your average white chick. Is this an insult to the BBCW community? Should it be? I suppose this isn't the forum to discuss that question, but I do wish to see some authenticity in my heroines. I want my instant recall of Lucy's face and features to be what Ruby Dixon had intentions on portraying. But at this moment, I'm not seeing the stunning, voluptuous, curvy black woman she wanted to represent. Because that's how I wanted to see Lucy. Drop-dead gorgeous. Unfortunately, I could imagine Rektar the Mesakkah custodian (aka cop) in an instant! Gah! Jaw-dropping, drool-worthy! I cry that I couldn't feel that way with Lucy. She so deserves at least that!
But the rest of the novella is quite good with a storyline that doesn't sound like a template. It still needed a few read-throughs because I could still find many word errors which I find puzzling. Ruby usually does far better than that as she's one of the very few current-day writers I read that still knows her grammar and punctuation! But I'm impressed that Ruby Dixon was able to use 96 pages and write a very good novella that didn't leave me wanting more! This is a very hard thing to do!!
I can see at least two more stories for this series. I only hope I get a chance to read a few rather than run across them on accident like I did this one. And, as always, this Risdaverse series is definitely worth the investment. Don't KU it! BUY IT!

Review: This is my first ever book by Ruby Dixon. This first time reader picked the book for the cover and the content. Lucy is a black plus sized human trying to get the attention of Rektar the new officer for their sector. I had a fair idea of how Lucy looked but
gained an insight on Rektar’s appearance as Lucy touches him
during lovemaking. I thank Ms. Dixon for adding diversity to her heroines and for creating a sweet and sexy couple. Rektar’s shyness was so endearing.

I loved the plus sized charachters. Sometimes I get tired of the perfect male with 18 abs and the perfect female, so beautiful, with such a perfect figure. (Sigh)
I already see that in TV n billboards all the time knowing I can't live up to that.
I loved this book. Lucy was wooing Rektar and he had no idea because he thought no one would ever want him. There are so many people (male n female) that can relate to that feeling.
This book has so much more: teasing, fun, and GREAT sex. Just another great ruby dixon book.
I'm a fan. I buy them all and I'm never disappointed.

Review: Ruby Dixon is an author that I will read automatically because I know she will entertain and delight me with her books. These two were perfect for eachother. I love Rektar and Lucy but mostly I enjoyed how there wasn't really any conflict. It was like a pallete cleanser getting ready for more shannigans to come.
You can totally read this book with out reading any prior books but I suggest reading at least one prior book to get the idea about how dangerous it can be to the ladies.
I hope you enjoy as much as I did.

Title: GBBO influence or not, this is a great read

Review: I've had a hard time getting back into reading (a fav author passing), but this intrigued me. I picked up the first book in the series and kept reading. Being a short thick black woman, I do make food for people that I like, so I related to Lucy. Being happy in a hard situation is what a lot us have done this past year. Lucy helps. Whether you're looking for a good read, or that and a new view about life this book is for you. If not, I don't know what to tell you. Sit in a dark corner with your teddy like you're on punishment.

Review: I love the series more than I do the ice barbarian series. Even though this was a short book it was still a great one. The only problem I had with the entire book was that it wasn't longer I wanted more of it and there wasn't more. I can't wait for more books in this series
