The four principal developers behind Bukkit the most popular set of non-official modifications for Minecraft servers are being hired by Mojang, makers of the uber popular block-world simulator. Mojang states that Warren Loo, Erik Broes, Nathan Adams and Nathan Gilbert will join the company to improve Bukkit and make it more compatible with the upcoming version of the game and to enable support other mods for servers in the future.

Loo writes on the official forms that the team will basically revamp the game's API which means that non-official developers from all over the world will be able to hook into the game's mechanics much more easily and smoothly. Mojang states that there are several teams that have created popular mods for the game, including Spout and Forge however, Bukkit was chosen as the most popular. Bukkit team was selected because they've developed specifically for Minecraft servers. The goal is to have Bukkit working on "more than just modding."

Obviously, the gentlemen are very thrilled to join the Mojang guys. This happens when a company whose game you are working on for free decides to start paying you real money.
