The trio of Jake Gyllenhaal, Tobey Macguire and Natalie Portman got me very excited for this film, and from an acting standpoint, they did not disappoint. An air raid sequence on the town itself in chapter seven features explosions as buildings crumble all around and anti-aircraft fire blasts from every corner, making for a terrifying, realistic experience if ever there was one.
The action never feels repetitive nor clumsy. Besides the fighting, Easy Company also experienced some of the most heart-wrenching moments of the War first-hand, including the public humiliation of Hollander Nazi sympathizers and their discovery of a concentration camp deep inside Germany. At last, we see the terrible that was Hacksaw Ridge.
