The Honda CR-V offers the most spacious interiors among compact SUVs, a substantial report on safety measures and excellent fuel economy, especially in the hybrid model. The gas-only models are operated by a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine mated with a continuously variable automatic transmission for 190 horsepower and 179 pounds-feet of torque. The CR-V gets an EPA-estimated combined rating of 29 mpg with AWD or 30 mpg with FWD. Hybrid models come with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder and two electric motors for 212 hp, as well as an EPA-estimated combined rating of 38 mpg.
Standard driver-assist and active safety technology across all models include lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, lane departure warning and automatic emergency braking that may reduce the vehicle’s speed in case a potential front collision is detected. Blind spot monitoring is standard on basically the beds base LX trim.
Shoppers seeking advanced connectivity features plus more little luxuries should skip the camp LX model. The CR-V LX receives a standard 5-inch multimedia screen, while all higher trims provide a larger 7-inch high-resolution screen. The base model also misses from Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, that will come standard on all other trims.
The top-tier CR-V Touring trim adds standard AWD, navigation with voice recognition, limited 9-speaker audio system and wireless phone charging. Heated seats come standard around the EX, EX-L and Touring, and is leather-wrapped from the EX-L or over.
