Tom Sharpe grew up in Washington Township, with two musician parents who got him started in piano lessons while he was five years old. He attended high school at Interlochen Arts Academy, and earned two degrees Depaul University while getting professional experience playing with Civic Orchestra of Chicago and other area musical organizations. Despite getting experience playing in college, Sharpe had trouble finding a strong set of gigs after graduating with his master's degree in classical performance.
