Twilight Princess Game Review

The most sombre and dark of the Nintendo 3D Zelda games, Twilight Princess pushes the limits of graphical presentation to its maximum limits on the Wii's hardware. It's darker and more threatening than The Wind Waker. There aren't any bug-eyed pigs nor effeminate Pirates.

Link is pulled into a dimension that is called Twilight Realm, where he transforms into a Hylian and a wolf while being guided by Midna.

Gameplay

Twilight Princess is the thirteenth installment in The Legend of Zelda series. It was released in 2006 for the Nintendo GameCube system and Wii. The game was highly praised by critics and received top scores from a variety of publications, including 1UP, CVG, EGM and GamesRadar. Many consider it to be the most enjoyable game in the series and also the most well-known Zelda title on the PAL market.

Twilight Princess features a naturalistic, stylized graphic style that is reminiscent of Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask and Ocarina of Time, but with a more sophisticated graphic engine. Twilight princess is the first game in the series to have the full directional control scheme, instead of a fixed view like the previous games. This change was made to accommodate the Wii console's touchscreen that is based on pointing. A short cutscene shows soldiers being killed by the shadow creatures when Link and Midna reach Hyrule Castle. Then, Link and Midna escape from the castle via an escape tunnel and enter the Twilight Realm.

In the Twilight Realm, Link can utilize his wolf-like form to move around more freely throughout the world. Link can also use his senses to navigate the world. He can sense ghosts of soldiers and animals in the distance. Link can also pick grass from specific patches and whistle with it to call an animal, such as the Hawk or Epona. Link can also whistle near the patches to summon a similar animal.

Twilight Princess is no different from earlier Zelda titles in the sense that music plays a significant role. Link can use an instrument of music, such as the flute or harp, to draw attention to and summon animals. Link can also use his voice to command the wolf's form. He can also use his compass to guide him to help him navigate through the world.

Characters

The Legend of Zelda is full of vibrant and unique characters that leave an unforgettable impression. These quirky and creative personalities that emerge from toilets to pirates soaring across vast oceans are the essence of this game. Twilight Princess continues the tradition of previous games by introducing a variety of memorable characters.

Through the course of the story, Link meets new NPCs who are not just interesting, but also believable. It's an important step forward that so many of these NPCs don't exist solely as victims and have a role to play in the story. NPCs such as Rusl who declares that the forest is risky now and kidnaps children or the Ordon villager who disguises himself as a wolf when the children are being kidnapped all have unique personalities.

Other notable characters include Iza who manages the Boat Rental Caf in Lanayru Province and Iza's rapid ride, Louise Telma’s cat, who assists Wolf Link find a secret passageway into the castle through her bar and sewer system, and Faron who's spirit guides Link to the Forest Temple in Eldin Province. The duo defeats Diababa's Fused Shadow and obtains the first Tear Of Light.

Midna, the princess of the Twilight Realm, is also one of the most intriguing characters in the game. She has a sliver of the Triforce of Wisdom and can shift between her human form and her wolf-like impish form. She befriends Link and informs him of her adventures in the twilight and how she defeated Zant, the king of Twilight.

Zant is the evil sorcerer who controls the Twilight Realm. He possesses the second half of the Triforce of Wisdom. The goddesses banished him to the Twilight Realm for enslaving their people and taking over their territory. Midna dispels Zant's power, which allows him to change into his human form if required.

The game also includes an improved horse called Epona that can be ridden in Hylian and wolf forms. Link can whistle at specific grass patches to call the animal. (similar to Majora’s Mask). Twilight Princess is the first game in the series in which the player can identify their horse.

Theme

Music is an integral part of any Zelda game. It can make a game seem vast as well as expansive and thrilling. Twilight Princess' soundtrack is criticized as being inconsistent and intermittent and doesn't convey certain emotions. Link's song from his hometown, "Faron Woods," is a more energetic and joyful track. Story

The story of Twilight Princess revolves around Link trying to stop Hyrule from being sucked into the corrupted parallel dimension known as the Twilight Realm. To achieve this, Link adopts the form of an Hylian or as well as a Wolf and is assisted by a woman named Midna.

Returning from Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask The horse Epona is able to be ridden in Twilight Princess. Link can select the name of the horse, a change from the predetermined names in the previous games.

Midna and Link can recover the remaining Mirror Shards once they arrive in the Twilight Realm. The Sages reveal to Midna that she is the real ruler of the Twili. She was a pawn by the monarchy and had turned to a power-hungry god. The Sages advise them that they will only be defeated by Ganondorf by bringing Ganondorf to the light and break the pact between the Twilight kingdom and Hyrule kingdom.
