Review: I'm on chapter 19...can't put it down.
I've run a very successful business for 30+ years but it was time for me to go higher. For about 18 months, I felt like I was quivering on the end of a high diving board, trying to get the courage to jump.
Amy's inspiring stories helped me take the leap and I'm seeing mind blowing changes already. Honestly, it's scary to step out of my comfort zone but it feels so good to finally take the risks that help me rise higher.
Having grown up in Africa with parents who broke African languages into writing so they could build schools in the Congolese jungles, I'm so excited that 100% of the profits for this book will build a girl's school in Kenya.
Life in Africa often throws scary obstacles in the way of young African girls, so this new girls' school can help them discover better options. Education helps people create their own solutions and this book really emphasizes that it's VIP to not just put a bandaid on problems but focus on building sustainable solutions.
I also love that the author has gives us action items so it's not just a feel good book. Her 7 steps helped me give structure to the changes I'm making in my life.
This book is going to become a movement because it helps each of us identify our gifts so we can turn our passions into purposeful action, making the world a better place.

Review: Amy's writing feels more like a conversation over lunch than a book with just written words in it. I can SEE. I can HEAR. I can FEEL. I can TASTE.
I walk away from each chapter KNOWING that the Purposeful Life filled with Positive Impact on others...is REAL. My heart is filled with new Hope, Healing, and Freedom. My face shines with the thought of walking in my God-given calling.
Amy walks us through a simple (okay, not always easy) 7-part framework to discover our own purpose and use it to make a lasting positive impact on the world...starting with ME and YOU. How cool is that, to think that we can be a part of something great, something amazing?! Something that REALLY MATTERS?!?!
One of the key takeaways for me is all about reframing "Can I?" to "How Can I?." Why limit yourself? Why be stuck? Why not re-imagine and ask HOW something could be done?! My creative thoughts and ideas are flowing like a rushing, rocky stream.
I love this book!! It speaks to the depths of my heart and soul.
I love "Passion to Purpose" so much that I plan to use it as one of the resources in my own coaching practice and online community.

Some of the nuggets of truth that resonated with me:
“The first step toward getting to your yes is acknowledging your no.”
“People often get hung up looking for the perfect scenario and opportunity, but I learned that they come when you make them happen.”
“Choosing passion is about constantly moving outside your comfort zone.”
If your life feels a bit lackadaisical and unfulfilling, this book will encourage you to dive deep into your personal passions to find the thing that can become your purpose. Don’t be discouraged if you aren’t driven to start a global nonprofit (I’m not) because every corner of the world needs people living passionately. That’s what this book will help you do.
Each section has activities for you to complete to help you discover your passions, find how they link to your purpose, and get busy doing even the smallest things that are a step in the direction toward experiencing joy and satisfaction.
My copy of this book is riddled with highlights. I want to incorporate their truth into a mindset that pursues my passion eagerly knowing it is the only path to a purposeful life.

Title: On the fence — but currently feeling disappointed

Review: I had high hopes for this book as a great guide for my social enterprise venture, Undebted, which is seeking to address the student-debt crisis in the U.S.
Unfortunately, it's high on fluff and low on practical guidance. It would probably be good for someone who's barely read any of these kinds of books, but for anyone well versed in the genre, it's likely to feel lacking.
Her stories are interesting, and she's certainly inspiring in what she's done — but I wanted to know more about exactly *how* she accomplished what she has. There are gaps in information all over the place, filled instead with how she *felt* about what was going on at the time.
As a result, a lot of the advice aspect of the book is centered more around the motivational and less on the practical. Maybe this will be okay for you, but it was lacking for me.
Last, and this is admittedly a petty annoyance...
She refers to her husband almost nonstop through the book. They are life and business partners, so I understand her appreciation of him, and he's certainly integral to her story. But not long into the book, it gets old fast. Yes, we get it... your husband helped, he's great, couldn't have done it without him, and so on. But we don't need to read this repeatedly from start to finish.

Review: If you are looking to turn find a way to make your passion into making an impact, this book is for you. Amy weaves in her life experiences in with tips, questions and actionable steps to making your passion a substantial part of your life. She provides both large and small ways to incorporating your passion as well as thoughtful questions to diving deep into your passions. I felt like I was being counseled by a friend who has my best interests at heart, giving encouragement and asking tough questions. I also appreciate that the proceeds from this book are going to fund Amy and her husband, Stu's, charity Village Impact. I believe that this book will be the encouragement and start for many who are working on incorporating passions into their lives.
