The World of the Four Directions is in mortal danger. The mission of rescuing the Inca falls to Salango, a Chanca spy from the Inca's secret service, Contador-de-un-Vista, quipus weaver and protagonist of this monumental novel. But the almost a thousand pages of it are not sustained only in this single task, but also in the meticulous reconstruction of a portentous and singular civilization, the Inca, in which loyalties collide and greed, betrayal and the ambition for power abound.
