Title: Simple recipes and cute design of the book.

Review: It is a cute book and can be a good present for someone who likes home cooking. The author is not recommending using any additives and I can understand why but I tried to make pineapple wine and it simply spoiled. the alcohol content was 13 but the taste and smell were awful. The pineapple just got rotten during fermentation. Twice. Maybe it would be better to use juice alone without putting the actual pineapple inside. Disinfecting the bottle and other equipment was not enough.
I have another book on winemaking and it recommends Camden tablets to kill bacteria prior to starting fermentation. I understood that you have to work out your recipe by try and error method. So I made two smaller batches. One was just blueberry wine and another was strawberry, apple and maracuya because that was what I had in the freezer. I added Camden tablet and waited about 12 hours before adding yeast. Both wines fermented well but it seems to me that strawberry got a bad aftertaste from the tablet. So I still prefer not to add any preservatives. I chose to add tannins because I like how they taste. Blueberry with tannins reminds regular wine and has a nice dark purple color. Without preservatives and other additives it feels cleaner and easier on the stomach (when used in small quantities of cause). I am sensitive to additives in food and that was the reason why I tried to make my own wine. Interesting experience. The problem with pineapple was probably due to high ambient temperature in the kitchen plus pineapples rot easily and probably not a best fruit to start with.

Review: Omg this book is awesome! I have 2 different types fermenting and starting 2-3 more next week once I get enough of the fruits I want to use! So incredibly easy! Colorful book, great information and mini tutorial in the front. The recipes are awesome! So creative without adding a bunch of unnecessary stuff to your wine. I live in a place where I can pick berries nearby, neighbors give me extras from their garden and I have land to grow things. I love that these recipes used what you gather and no chemicals added! I love this book so much!

Title: Best Wine Recipes

Review: The variety of recipes in Wild Winemaking offer exciting and creative selections. Jalapeño-Lime (which I am making right now), Buddha's Hand, plain fresh grape and a number of other unique and traditional recipes. Usually, because a wine doesn't use any chemicals it is called a "Country" wine. But these are too unique to describe them so simply. Personally, I prefer NOT using chemicals so always look for recipes that do the same. Even if your preference is to use clearing agents, nutrients and other products, this book will still serve you well.

Review: I have mixed feelings about this book. It is full of great ideas, and one person's view of winemaking. The recipes tend to be a bit formulaic, most repeat the previous recipe with a few alterations. I am pleased to own this book, but always check back across a couple of others to modify what I do. Don't rely on it as your only source for how to make wine.

Title: Fun, Simple, and Creative

Review: This book demystifies wine making. I have been scared to try because carboys and fermentation locks invoke my high school chemistry PTSD. Bender pares down the science (so if that is part of your joy, this book may be too simple for you. Fair enough), and keeps directions common sense and fun. I enjoy his anecdotes and creative recipes. I bought mike seeds just to try out one of the pepper recipes. Too much fun!

Review: The first 3 chapters alone are worth it. Clear, concise instructions and explanations for what equipment and general ingredients you need, what they're for, and how to use them. It really makes me feel more confident in what I'm doing, knowing why and when to do it. Compared to searching online for instructions, there's so much conflicting information without great explanations. I'm making pear wine right now, but I'm gonna get into those chilli wines next year.

Title: Misleading, not true wild wine

Review: I was looking for a book that had true wild wine making recipes. ALL recipes in this book are made using a packet of wine yeast. It's nice they don't use other additives but wild wine is made with wild yeast not a packet. Very disappointing - returning this book.

Review: Excellent guide to making wine if you’re new or experienced. I would advise getting 2 gallon fermenters though, because the 1.4 gallon is not quite enough when you’re using 5 lbs of fruit.
