NEW YORK - Sep. 8, 2022 /PRNewswire/ - The Israel Ministry of Tourism today released new records for the number of tourists coming in Israel from the United States in July and august. 78,000 tourists from the United States visited Israel in July 2022. This represents a 4 percentage increase over 2019 and 71,000 visitors from the United States in august 2022. This is 13% more than the number of visitors in 2019.

"It is so exciting to once again see an increase in tourism to Israel from the United States, already reaching and surpassing our record-breaking numbers in 2019," stated Eyal Carlin, Tourism Commissioner for North America. "The United States is our top market for inbound tourism to Israel and prior to the outbreak of COVID-19 that was sweeping the world, we were celebrating record-breaking tourist numbers each month. We're so happy to see such a positive shift and we anticipate an increase in the coming many months and years to be."

Canada is also on track, just as the United States, to surpass the number of tourists who visit Israel. In July 2022, Canada saw 7,200 tourists and August witnessed the number increase to 6,000.

Gal Hana, Consul to Canada and Director of Canada at the Israel Ministry of Tourism stated that it was exciting to see the Canadian tourism industry to Israel rebounding. We are close to our record numbers for 2019 and we expect that this growth in travel to Israel will continue to grow as Canadians feel more at ease in Israel.

Israel received more than 4.6 million tourists in 2019. 969,600 were from the United States. The country's official reopening to all travelers in May was a success, with more than 600,000.
