Review: I think this book is terrific. If you want to begin programming in Ruby this is the place to start. Be aware this is not a book on Ruby Rails, but Ruby. If I were interested in Rails I would still start with this book on Ruby first, then more to Rails IMHO. John has a great teaching style, very logical and not overly complicated when not necessary. He also is very responsive to questions. I also used his video that compliments this book. My only wish is that he would do intermediate to advanced book and video series.
