Views: 52 confirmed on Sunday the favorable vote that polls had been marking for weeks.

(Positions of the candidates for the Historic Pact to Pensions and Inflation).

The election was won by Bogota's former mayor and senator from the Republic. This makes him a candidate in the Presidency of the Republic, an office that he is aspiring to for the third time.

The high vote in the polls makes him to be the most representative of the figures of the Colombian left, and is a strong candidate for president, despite his controversial proposals and ideas on several fronts, not least the one on economics.

Petro has stated his intention to change the pension system through the creation of a public manager of pension funds that will operate the benefit of a "mixed and complementing system" along with private funds.

He stated that Colombia has no pension system, but rather a system of bank profit. This is what many believe would make Petro the most likely choice to become the President. Petro recently said that while the pension system would not be eliminated however, he will seek to make changes regarding pensions in order to guarantee a minimum retirement age for Colombians. Petro also stated that it's not required to raise the pension age.

Another controversy about him is that he repeatedly promises that he will cease oil extraction when he assumes the helm. has caused uncertainty among investors as well as the market.

Experts estimate that Petro's plan to end oil exploration would cost Colombia about $4.3 billion.

Furthermore, this plan would establish an anti-oil front throughout the world and in the region which shifts the economy away from fossil fuels. To accomplish this I'd like to invite Gabriel Boric the Chilean president and LuizInacio Lula Silva the Brazilian president.

Petro has said that he spoke with the Premier Minister of Spain, Pedro Sanchez, regarding his idea.

His attitude on health issues has also been controversial because he insists on the end of EPS and replacing it with a preventive model that "guarantees the rights of individuals and not the profit of bankers".

He also raised doubts about the independence the Banco de la Republica. He announced that he would make reforms when he becomes the president.

Petro said that the Bank Board of Directors of the Bank was part of the Democratic Center, a political party. "What we would like is a completely independent Bank of the Republic (...) and it is important to us to ensure that the Board is represented by the entire community," the candidate said in the middle of the debate.

Invamer claims that Petro is the president's choice for in voting intentions. of releasing cash to fund spending by the government was not without controversy. are focused on a sustainable economic system that doesn't depend on fossil fuels.

He also stated that he would implement a tax reform to eliminate exemptions, and to transform the minimum wage concept into a wage dependent on capital and income.
