Minecraft is a game with limitless potential that is always being showcased in new and exciting ways. Many important in-person activities were halted due to the chaos in the world. MY GAMES But one college decided they'd go to the Minecraft metaverse to combat this.

Reddit user posted a video of a Minecraft-based entry ceremony at Yeungnam University in South Korea. Yeungnam University's inventive effort let students celebrate their first steps into the college experience by creating the virtual Minecraft space that reflects the campus they will be attending for the next few years.

The video showcasing the event includes an auditorium packed with students sporting unique Minecraft skins, staff speakers on stage, a large campus to explore, exciting games for participants, and explosive fireworks to celebrate this special day.

Yeungnam University discusses the "metaverse University" and the students who developed it. Yeungnam University Minecraft Server Club (YUMC) is the one responsible for this achievement. The club already has 300 members, and was only established in February. Students studying in a variety of fields came together within the club to create their own campus in Minecraft.

"I was a bit saddened by the loss of value of interaction and communication in school due to the prolonging of COVID-19," said Seo Seung-wan the president of YUMC. "I started this club with the idea that it would be great to create a student-led group to participate with interactive activities in the virtual space of Minecraft."

The members of YUMC worked together to construct the virtual version of their campus. They even added details in the model that only students at the university would notice, like their favorite restaurants on campus. They built all the important places on their campus, including the Central Library, the Chunma Art Center as well as the Student Hall, the Outdoor Auditorium and the International Exchange Center.

The Minecraft metaverse version of their campus has proved useful for Yeungnam University and has continuously been used for other important occasions, including meetings and military send-off ceremonies.

Lee Bo-gyeong, a student of Yeungnam University, stated that the freshmen admissions ceremony was held in the metaverse in March. "We wanted an admissions ceremony that was prepared by seniors of freshmen, who weren't able to have a proper ceremony due to COVID-19.
