A legendary watch that has been adored the world over since its launch in 1957, the Speedmaster Moonwatch is still a benchmark in the watchmaking world. So when Omega teamed up with Swatch to offer a playful variation of its iconic model in a collection called Bioceramic MoonSwatch, the crowds flocked to it. The result? Stocks are already sold out. In the meantime, we offer you a few alternatives inspired by this series, displayed at very affordable prices. Moonwatch, MoonSwatch: watch out!
Fun, well-made and particularly precise, the new Q Timex chronographs are inspired by the timepieces worn by racing drivers and pay tribute to the Q Timex model of the 1970s. Not only are they very affordable in terms of price, but they also have a design that is rather similar to the Moonwatch, between the black tachymeter scale, the 40 mm steel case with crown surrounded by two pushers, and the three counters on the contrasting dial.

The Moonwatch style is mainly reflected in the contrasting dial with its three counters. However, something different is expected here, both in terms of the shape of the thicker steel case on the upper part, topped by the crown and the two pushers at 12 o'clock, which are therefore no longer on the right side of the case middle.

Citizen's much loved Challenge Timer chronograph, "Bullhead" to its friends, also has the particularity to be equipped with a calibre turned 90 degrees counter-clockwise. It is a watch that you could notably see in a gold version, on Brad Pitt's wrist in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. A rather original and cheap alternative while waiting for the new MoonSwatch to arrive again.

Black dial with three counters, steel case and bracelet, luminescent indexes and hands: the Lunar Pilot by Bulova is very close to the Moonwatch in its design. It is moreover a watch which, although less known, has also been in space, on the wrist of the astronaut Dave Scott during the Apollo 15 mission. A reliable and extremely precise model, operating with a powerful quartz movement, beating at a frequency of 262 kHz (8 times higher than standard quartz). We thus appreciate the look, the performance, but also the price of this beautiful timepiece which remains very reasonable.

Like the MoonSwatches, this watch leaves steel aside and bets on the colour, while offering itself a playful, sporty and casual look. The strap is made of rubber and the case of polymer. In addition to its colourful versions, it also has several dial configurations.

Water-resistant to 100m, it is equipped with a Miyota quartz movement (Caliber 2035) and a notched bezel, also in polymer. It is a simple and fun watch that makes a nice change from traditional models.

We finish this selection of alternatives with the Chinese brand Pagani Design which proposes us this rather successful model. Stainless steel structure, 40 mm case, black ceramic bezel, black dial with three counters, luminescent hands and indexes: the resemblance with the Moonwatch is striking. For the mechanism, it is a Seiko VK63 quartz movement that makes the heart of this timepiece beat.

A perfect model for those who are looking for a quasi copy of the Moonwatch, but at a very low price. The quality is obviously far from being the same, but it remains a good deal.
