Gustavo Petro the candidate confirmed on Sunday that he was the beneficiary who was spotted in polls for several week.

Former senator of the Republic and former mayor of Bogota was able to secure the victory in the Historic Pact coalition. Officially, he is now running for the presidency, which he hopes to win for the third time.

His high vote at the meeting makes him the most representative of the Colombian Left, and a reliable candidate for the presidency, despite the fact that his ideas and proposals are controversial on multiple fronts, such as the economic one.

gustavo petro Petro declared his intention to alter the pension system through the creation of a public administrator for pension funds. Petro is also planning to establish a system that can be "mixed-and-complementary" and private fund.

The candidate claimed that Colombia doesn't have a retirement system, but instead the system is designed to make bank profits. Many believe that this will prevent him from becoming President. However, Petro recently said that the government would not end pensions but would seek pension reform to ensure a minimum pension for Colombians. He also stated that there's no need to increase the age of retirement.

Experts estimate that Petro's plan to stop exploration for oil would cost Colombia approximately $4.3 billion.

I also suggest to establish an anti oil front in the region as well as the world. This will help move the economy away form fossil fuels. In this regard I am inviting Gabriel Boric (the new Chilean president) and LuizInacio Lula da Silva (the Brazilian LuizInacio Lula da Silva) and others.

gustavo petro Petro said he recently spoke with the Premier Minister of Spain, Pedro Sanchez, regarding his idea.

His position on health is also controversial. He has demanded the end of EPS and replaced it with an approach to preventive medicine that "guarantees the rights of individuals and not the profit margins of bankers."

He also challenged the autonomy of Banco de la Republica, and declared that he will also change the institution in the event of his being elected President.

Petro said that the Bank Board of Directors belonged to the Democratic Center and "What we want is an independent Bank of the Republic (...) it seems crucial that the Board of Directors is a part of society members," the candidate stated in the middle of the debate.

Invamer says Petro has the presidency's decision to vote.

The idea was controversial because he had proposed to issue cash to fund government spending.

Petro's recommendations include an economy that is not dependent on fossil fuels and the extraction of hydrocarbons as well as mining. Agriculture plays a larger part to play.

It is also stated that he is planning to implement an overhaul of the tax system that would eliminate exemptions as well as the replacement of the idea of minimum wage by a real wage that is based on income and capital.
