La question peule au Sahel central constitue un champ particulièrement stimulant pour tenter d'analyser en profondeur l'insécurité dans cet espace géopolitique complexe où les conflits communautaires, fonciers, identitaires et le djihadisme s'entremêlent, se confondent et parfois s'auto-alimentent.   
L'auteur analyse l'implication d'une frange de la jeunesse peule dans les groupes djihadistes au Sahel central suivant une approche novatrice, mais surtout contextualisée dans cette région en crise sécuritaire profonde. Depuis l'occupation du Nord Mali en 2012 par Al-Qaïda au Maghreb Islamique (AQMI), la violence au Sahel n'a pas cessé de progresser : devenue chronique, cette violence touche le Niger mais surtout le Burkina Faso qui vit l'une des pires crises sécuritaire et humanitaire de son histoire.
